It's a busy day on the Soo Line as 2-6-0 number 123 takes a local past some small industries loading their wares onto another car. This scene is on the HO scale layout of a friend of mine here in Madison.
The location is Ridgeland at the end of the branch line of my Rice Lake Dallas & Menomonie Railroad. The branch is modeled after the real Soo Line Ridgeland branch that existed from 1896 – 1962 in west central Wisconsin. It was originally part of the Rice Lake, Dallas & Menomonie Railway which existed from 1893-1899 before being absorbed into the Soo Line. The industry behind the tracks is the Sanna Creamery.
